A story of love beyond death and death beyond love.

After writing a number of dreaful
screenplays which read like Dawson's Creek rejections, I was inspired to
write
'Dress' after listening to the song
'Napoleon' by Ani Difranco. I used the song in a monologue scene
in the movie,
but this scene was cut out and I
never put the song in again! Another song that helped shape the movie
was 'All
is Full of Love' by Björk,
which plays during the last scene and credits.
"All is full of love, you just ain't receiving, your phone is off the hook, your doors are shut..."
The opening scene with the voice-over
came to me after I decided that 'Falling. Again'
would be the name of my
production company. I realised
that 'falling again' was what Hank and his girlfriend were trying to do
in the film -
to be reunited with each other.
(If you've seen 'City of Angels'
you may understand a bit more...)
I started my film after my friends
had begun work on their films (The Gatecrasher and Horsemen) but I ended
up
finishing mine first. I guess
rushing it slightly has caused the film to be a bit rusty in some places
and if I had
taken an extra day or two of shooting
some bits would have been a little bit better.
But I am very happy with my debut short film and I'm looking forward to beginning work on my future projects.
Thanks to all the cast and crew for
their time and effort, especially Ryan who had to bring his 8 track recorder
to
school to record the theme!
(That thing is HUGE). Love to all my family, for support and adivce.
Chris Tse, September 2000.
